For those who are hankering to go to Moscow but think that the fare will be expensive – think again!!! Vietnam Airlines is offering cheap… and I mean … really cheap fare from Kuala Lumpur to Moscow return for less than RM1,400. This promotional fare started in April 2015 and it is still running until all promotional seats are sold off. Needless to say, this cheap fare is available for certain dates but the last time I checked, there still plenty of seats till next year.
I have done a mock booking to show you the connection time of the flights. There are two flights flying out of Kuala Lumpur with a stopover in Ho Chi Minh. It may be a downside for some as it is an overnight stopover for the connecting flight to Moscow which is the following day at 1035 hrs. Well, nothing is perfect with cheap fares but you will be able to find cheap accommodation in Ho Chi Minh. Be sure to seize this opportunity to treat yourself to some Vietnamese food as they are cheap and amazingly delicious.
The return flight from Moscow to Kuala Lumpur has good connection whereby the transit time in Ho Chi Minh is less than 2 hours for the first flight. Again, there are two flights to choose from. In my books, for a total net fare of RM1,376.90, it is a fantastic deal.
Malaysians need to apply for a visa to enter Russia. This is the not so “fantastic” part because the visa is not so straight forward. You will need a letter of invitation from a Russian travel agency and a hotel voucher from a hotel in Russia plus RM183 visa fees. It can take from 5 working days to a couple of weeks to get your visa approved. Also, you can’t apply your visa well in advance as you can only submit your application one month from the date of travel. Well, to save the hassle, you can go to an approved agency by the Russia Consulate in Malaysia whereby they will get all the necessary documents for you at the price of RM200. If you need them to submit the application, it will cost you another RM100 on top of the visa fees. So do bear in mind, you will have to cough up another RM483 to be able to get into Russia. All in all, it is still a very good deal indeed.
If you have any questions regarding the visa to Russia, write to me in the comments box and I will get back to you soonest possible. If there is a group of you who wish to go to Russia for a holiday and want someone to arrange the tour, I will be more than happy to offer you this service.
Their fares to other parts of Europe like Paris, London and Frankfurt are also very good. I already booked my flight to Paris for this coming September and the fare was RM1,740.
So… wait no longer and go for this fantastic deal!!
